Bloomberg’s Alix Steele reports on the Republican Platform’s look to return to the gold standard as part of “possible ways to set a fixed value for the dollar.” Talk of returning to a gold-backed dollar has increasingly entered the mainstream, and the Republican Party has even put the issue on its platform this election year.
“Either the government would have to drain almost $2 trillion out of circulation, or buy 35,000 tons of gold,” Bloomberg’s Alix Steele reports.
